So it has been a while since we have given everyone an update. So this one may be long

Everyone is doing very well. We have had a few doctors appointments and all have been pretty routine and easy breezy. Wesley is growing like crazy and at our last appointment actually measured 2 weeks ahead. He may turn out to be a large baby, like his daddy, against the wishes of his mama.

We had our family baby shower last month and it was fabulous. We were blown away with the love and generosity of our families and loved ones. We are surely cared for and loved. Wesley is coming into a wonderful family, I couldn’t ask for anything else. We ended up getting a lot of the things that we needed for him and his arrival. Now if I can only complete the thank you cards!

The nursery is coming along beautifully, thanks to our family and friends and their wonderful gifts. I like to sit in Wesley’s room sometimes and try to picture him in there with me, how much life is about to change for the better. It makes me just that much more excited to meet him.

Nick and I completed our birthing class this weekend and it was a great experience. We learned a lot and it has made us feel more comfortable with the process of labor and the birth of our son. Nick learned how to be a fantastic labor partner. He is really going to be great through the whole process, I can tell. I take a lot of comfort in that since his confidence in me will help me focus and be calm. We learned about breastfeeding and also a bit about newborn care (we rocked the swaddling lesson!).

Our doctor appointments are now every two weeks and the next one is on Oct. 31st, Halloween of all days Our doctor said that if I am still continuing to measure ahead, we will do an ultrasound to see how big our little man really is. Fingers crossed!

I will try to be better about letting everyone know how things are going, especially since it is getting to crunch time! Only 9 weeks left! We couldn’t be more excited!

This appointment went very well. Pretty easy. We were given the items needed to do my glucose test (to test for gestational diabetes) and told that we need to start thinking about a pediatrician for Wesley. While trying to get a heartbeat on the doppler, the doctor had a hard time since Wesley kept kicking it and moving around Again, an indication of how active our son might be!

Blood pressure was normal and weight gain has been normal…pretty uneventful, but it’s always good to hear that baby and mama are healthy and doing well!

This has probably been some of the easiest time during this pregnancy. It really is true that the second trimester is the easiest part of pregnancy. I have felt pretty great for the past 8 weeks. Although my belly is growing larger and my energy level is starting to lack accordingly, things have been going pretty well! We have found out what we are having (a beautiful baby boy!) and been told that he is perfectly healthy and growing right on schedule.

We have decided on a name for our little one….Wesley David Webb! A strong name for a very strong baby! Wesley may have a future as a kickboxer as he is doing a lot of practice in my belly! He is quite the active little boy, moving around and punching and kicking all over the place….we may have quite a handful on our hands

Nick and I recently moved into our new two bedroom apartment. It is definitely nice to have a space for Wesley now. A place where I can finally start nesting

We have started planning our baby shower (September 25th!) and have registered for just about everything that we need. Registering is fun but also daunting, there is quite a lot of things that we need for Wesley! We have registered at Target (our main registry) and we also have a few items registered at Babies R Us!

We signed up for our childbirth classes which will begin the end of October. These will be helpful because they not only teach us about childbirth and pain management, but also breastfeeding and how to care for a newborn.

Everyone is doing great and it seems like time is flying by now. Wesley will be with us before we know it…very exciting!

This week marks the end of the first trimester and the beginning of my second, thank goodness! The first trimester was challenging and a bit scary. With the risk of miscarriage a lot higher and the most severe symptoms, I felt it would never end! Luckily baby and I made it out in one piece. My symptoms ranged from horrible heartburn and nausea, to narcolepsy (at least it felt like narcolepsy), to extreme hunger that a teenage boy would have a hard time matching. With these symptoms slowly fading (except for the hunger problem) I have a sense of relief and excitement.

During the second trimester we get to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time, find out the sex, and wait for my belly to expand. I am secretly hoping (along with Nick’s family) that we are having a girl, but with Nick’s family FULL of boys I think the chances are slim. Either way, we are just hoping that the baby is healthy and happy. 14 weeks down, 26 more to go!
